SOMERSET, KY – Victoria Taylor has been hired as Southeast Kentucky Economic Development Corporation’s (SKED) new Small Business Training Specialist.
The Pulaski County resident began work for the 38-year-old nonprofit business lender on August 1.
Taylor is an entrepreneur and former educator who brings a myriad of experience and technical expertise to the existing position.
“Working at SKED is truly a dream job for me,” Taylor said. “It allows me to nurture my passion for entrepreneurship while supporting our community members in reaching their professional success goals. I also feel incredibly grateful to be part of the SKED family. I am excited to learn from my colleagues and look forward to coming to work each day!”
As a small business training specialist, Taylor will work directly with small business owners across SKED’s 45-county service territory, providing marketing, business counseling, social media tips and tricks, and more, as part of SKED’s free technical assistance program. She will also assist SKED Small Business Training Director Amanda Kelly in implementing and teaching the Entrepreneurial SMARTS program and Be Boss Online – SKED’s digital marketing course.
The Texas native owns Window Custom Designs and previously worked for Griswold Holiday Lighting in Somerset. Before moving to Pulaski County, Taylor taught grades third through eighth at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica School in Beaumont, Texas and DeQueen Elementary in Porth Arthur, Texas, where she was Dyslexia Department Head.
Taylor holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with triple majors in management, entrepreneurship and general Business.
When not at work, Taylor home schools her two children: Thomas, age 10, and Rosaline, age 7. She also actively coaches her son’s Little League team with Pulaski County Little League and volunteers at the Living Bread Soup Kitchen (and affiliate programs) in Somerset. For fun, she and her children enjoy bow fishing and traveling across the country.
Kelly says Taylor brings a fresh perspective and new skills to SKED’s training department.
“We are thrilled to welcome Victoria to the SKED team. Her passion, expertise, and experience will greatly benefit all of SKED’s clients,” she said. “We look forward to the innovative ideas and fresh perspectives she will bring to our organization.”
