MIDDLESBORO, KY – Eight individuals completed Southeast Kentucky Economic Development Corporation’s free Be Boss Online digital marketing course at the Tradesmen Artisan Market in Middlesboro, Kentucky.

Amanda Kelly, small business training director at SKED, and Jarrod Withers, SKED small business training specialist, led the four-week course, covering a range of topics designed to help business owners and entrepreneurs develop, expand, and safeguard their online presence.

Eight people graduated from the Be Boss Online marketing course in Middlesboro

Participants learned about local search engine optimization, social media management, advertising, website management, analytics, email marketing and security. The course was offered at no cost through a partnership between SKED, the Bell County Chamber of Commerce, and a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Jarrod Withers talks about the journey of the customer, from awareness to advocacy

“Jarrod and Amanda with SKED brought Be Boss Online to Bell County. It was a great opportunity for our small business owners to learn practical tools, valuable resources, and the confidence to take the next step,” said Elizabeth Madon, Bell County Chamber of Commerce executive director. “I highly recommend the class for anyone who needs tips, ideas and suggestions for making their business a success!”

“It was a fantastic experience meeting and speaking with the participants, each of whom was from different types of businesses. Their participation elevated the classes to something beyond a lecture on how things work, but how things work for them,” said Withers.

Be Boss Online is a self-paced digital marketing training program for small businesses and entrepreneurs, offered in person and on demand. An upcoming Be Boss Online event is scheduled at the Monticello-Wayne County Chamber of Commerce on November 3, 2026. This free session for Monticello-Wayne County Chamber of Commerce members will focus on “Unlocking AI for Business Success,” providing insights into leveraging artificial intelligence in business.
