SOMERSET, KY – Ryan Polson likes offering his customers a choice.
The owner of Polsons Autobody & Paint LLC in Somerset, Ky., is putting his 25 years of experience to work and his team of repair technicians on the road for customers who value convenience. It’s the only mobile repair shop in Pulaski County.
Polson cut his teeth in the autobody repair business by working as a private contractor with the Don Franklin Family automotive dealership. That’s where he built his expertise and confidence to go out on his own. He calls the client work rewarding.
“Working with the Don Franklin team has been a challenging task, but nothing easy is rewarding,” Polson said.
Polson has been working for himself for five years, building a business with its own brand. Today, he and his seven employees travel across Central Kentucky in five repair vans customized to handle remote calls.
“Branching out into mobile repair is not about me but about the customer saving time and money,” Polson explained.
While he has two repair shop locations to offer more extensive services, he is currently focusing on mobile work.
“It’s 70 percent of my business,” he said. “The full-service shop work will come with growth and time.”
The mobile repair shop offers scratch-and-dent and paint repair, minor collision work, wheel repair, headlight restoration, and more.
Polson needed a different kind of partner to finance his business’s growth. He found that help at Southeast Kentucky Economic Development Corp. (SKED).
“SKED helped me purchase my first work van and the tools and materials for my next four vans. I was offered the job of servicing all the Don Franklin dealerships in the state, and it was a lot to take on all at once. With the help of SKED, it was possible.”
